How have I been spending my time this weekend? Enjoying popsicles with the kids, melting all sticky sweet, watching the birds in our new window bird feeder (a rose-breasted grosbeak was in it this morning — what a pleasant surprise!), and a bake sale and plant sale to support our town’s local library. I planted all of my purchases today: peonies, forget-me-nots, indian cups, pink chrysanthemums, orange oriental poppies, sweet woodruff, daylilies, forsythia, and the most beautiful dogwood tree that will produce blooms as well as blue berries for the birds.
Tomorrow my daughter and I are going to buy a second New Dawn rosebush — I will be training it to form an arch over a window with another rosebush we already have that is of the same kind.
What are you up to this weekend?

My friends Tammy and Lee have a wonderful zine for sale called Twigs and Feathers, available here. Inside you will find projects to make, including a rose brooch made of pattern tissue paper, inspiring quotes, a delicious recipe for Sweet Tea with Mint and a pocket filled with a little surprise treasure just for you.
one of my most favorite minimalist composers is Arvo Pärt. En-joy this performance.
